What we collect through this website, why we collect it, and what we do with it.

Shelby Trim is an automotive and marine soft trim shop in Sterling Heights, Michigan. This policy explains what we collect through shelbytrim.com, why we collect it, and what we do with it.
We keep this short on purpose. We are a trim shop, not a data company. We collect what we need to quote your job and to understand how people find the site, and nothing beyond that.

Information you give us
The estimate request form on our Contact page asks for:
- Your name
- Your phone number
- Your email address
- Your vehicle year, make, and model, if you choose to provide them
- A desired date, if you choose to provide one
- Whatever you write in the message field
Name, phone, email, and a message are required so that we can reply. Everything else is optional, and you decide what to send.
When you submit the form, the information is emailed to the shop and also saved in the website database, so a request is not lost if an email fails to deliver.
If you call or email us directly, we keep what you tell us for as long as we need it to do the work.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, ours records some technical information when you visit:
- Your IP address
- Your browser, device type, and operating system
- The pages you view and how long you spend on them
- The site or search that sent you here
- Your general location, at city or region level, estimated from your IP address
We use this to understand which pages people find useful and which searches bring them here. We do not use it to work out who you are.
Cookies and analytics
We use Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to measure site traffic. Google Analytics sets cookies that help it recognize a returning visit and group page views into one session. We have set it up to record when someone submits the estimate form or taps our phone number, so we can tell which pages lead to real enquiries.
The site also runs behind Cloudflare, which handles caching and security filtering. Cloudflare processes your IP address and may set a cookie to tell legitimate visitors apart from automated traffic.
If you would rather not be measured, you can turn off cookies in your browser settings, install Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or browse in private or incognito mode. None of that will stop you using the site.
We do not run advertising pixels, retargeting tags, or social media trackers here.
How we use your information
We use what we collect to:
- Prepare and send you an estimate
- Contact you about your vehicle and your job
- Keep records of work we have quoted or carried out
- Understand how people find and use the site, so we can improve it
- Protect the site from spam and abuse
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not hand it to anyone for their own marketing.
Who we share it with
We share information only with the services that keep the site and the business running:
- Google, for website analytics
- Cloudflare, for site delivery and security
- Our email provider, for sending and receiving the messages the form generates
- Our web host, which stores the site and its database
Each of those handles data on our behalf under its own terms. We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect our rights, our property, or someone’s safety.
How long we keep it
Estimate requests stay in our records for as long as they are commercially useful, usually several years, because customers come back and so do their vehicles. Analytics data is kept according to the retention setting on our Google Analytics property.
If you want an estimate request deleted, email ann@shelbytrim.com, tell us roughly when you sent it, and we will remove it.
Security
The whole site runs over HTTPS, so anything you send through the form is encrypted in transit. Access to the website admin area and to stored estimate requests is limited to people who need it. No system is perfectly secure and we cannot promise absolute security, but we take reasonable care.
Children
This site is for adults arranging work on a vehicle. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us something, contact us and we will delete it.
Links to other sites
We sometimes link out to other websites, such as a supplier, a car club, or a museum. We are not responsible for how those sites handle your information. Read their policies if it matters to you.
If you live in California
California residents have the right to know what personal information a business collects about them, to ask that it be deleted, and to not be treated differently for exercising those rights. What we collect and why is described above. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. To make a request, email ann@shelbytrim.com.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and change the effective date at the top.
